After verification: levels, locked fields and expiry dates

Passing is where the account starts. Levels move, some fields are set for good, documents expire and people move country — all four are cheaper to handle before they land on you.

Four things, and who moves first

These sheets are about what happens once you are through. What separates them isn’t difficulty — it is which side starts it.

Whether you act first or wait decides how you prepare. Each of these sits somewhere different on that scale:

  • Moving up a level: you start it. It never happens on its own. Almost always you try to do something, find you can’t, and go back to add a level. So the way to prepare is to sort it out before you need it, not to wait for a prompt that isn’t coming. What each level allows is in verification levels.
  • A request for more documents: Binance starts it. When it comes, or whether it comes at all, isn’t yours to schedule, and you can’t do it in advance. The one thing you control is staying reachable: keep the email address live, leave push on, and update it when you change numbers. Most of the mess that follows begins with a message nobody opened.
  • Re-verifying: the calendar starts it. The expiry date is printed on your document, so it is knowable today and it is the only one of the four you can diary. What has to change alongside a new document number is in re-verifying after your ID expires.
  • Moving country: you start it, and it starts several other things. A change of residence can touch fiat rails, product access and the KYC record itself, and the direction matters — leaving a market Binance no longer serves is a different exercise from arriving in one it does. That is moving country with a Binance account.

One more, while you are here. The days just after you pass are the right moment to reread the fields that can’t be edited later. Right now that is proofreading. Discovering the same typo at the point where you need the account is a different and much slower procedure — see the fields you can’t change yourself.

Put your document’s expiry date in your calendar and set a reminder a month or two ahead. It is the only item on this page that needs nobody’s cooperation but yours.
